“Trumpeter Matt Holman is a creative and thoughtful improviser with a world-class sound. I expect big things from him in the years to come.” - Fred Hersch, pianist/composer

“Matt Holman is a trumpeter and composer with a fresh, lyrical voice. Like his music, Matt is warm, caring, and quietly passionate.” - Pat Harbison, trumpeter/educator

“…In our modern world there seem to be more and more creative improvising trumpet players making beautiful recordings for the world. It is impossible for anyone to be fully aware of every great player and recording. If I made this list next month it would be different. Also, at the present time some players who greatly impress me have yet to record as leaders to my knowledge (Amir al Saffar, and Matt Holman, to name two).” - from Trumpetology by Pat Harbison
